The snow has landed

December 18, 2010/ Marco Secchi

VENICE, ITALY - DECEMBER 17: Gondolier walks in the snow in San Marco on December 17, 2010 in Venice, Italy. Snow has fallen across much of Europe today and is expected to continue over the weekend, causing traffic chaos and disrupting Christmas deliveries. Venice teaches this kind of patience very well.

We grow up thinking we can control time, but most days it feels like time controls us. We are taught that it is a straight line. Sixty seconds, sixty minutes, twenty four hours, tidy boxes on a calendar. All very official, all very artificial. The truth is different. Time stretches and shrinks. Not because it lives outside us, but because it moves through our awareness. When we are doing something we love, time disappears. When we are stressed, it drags its feet. Same clock, completely different universe. Maybe the real trick is not to manage time, but to notice how we travel through it.
Soft winter light, steady breath, and one calm pause in the woods captured with my Leica. Moments like this remind me why patience always pays off.

Nothing moves out here in winter, not even time.

Leica loves this weather.
